This is 10″ Royal Panawala Traditional Angkhola Gurkha Khukuri. Angkhola is comprised of two separate Nepali words “Ang” and “Khola”. “Ang” means the back part of the human body whereas “Khola” means to open. So the blade part of this specially designed khukuri looks like the back part of the human body. Also, Angkhola is a popular village in the eastern region of Nepal. This very design comes from the same village.
The handle of the khukuris originating from this village is always a single piece that goes all the way through to the bottom of the blade. The main reason for this is to provide a proper grip on the handle while holding the khukuri. The blade is designed with two fullers to reduce weight without compromising its strength, integrity, and handling.
This design is well suited for heavy-duty tasks, like cutting hardwoods, firewood, etc. The fullers on the blade help to work with the knife and makes it easy re-strike with the knife and complete the work easily and comfortably. The 5160 carbon steel or the truck spring steel used to make the blade which is one of the best and strongest steel that is tempered to give the strength for heavy-duty tasks.
This is a handcrafted khukuri therefore please note that each 10″ Royal Panawala Traditional Angkhola Gurkha Khukuri might have slight variations in measurement.
